Perry Wasserman, managing director of 501(c) STRATEGIES, specializes in designing and implementing legislative campaigns, coalition building and grassroots organizing on a range of legislative and regulatory issues important to nonprofit organizations.
Prior to launching 501(c) STRATEGIES in 2005 with Mauricio Vivero, the firm’s founder, Perry served as the legislative specialist in the public policy practice group of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, a law firm with over 20 offices worldwide. In this position, he tracked and analyzed developments relating to intellectual property and media law. He also lobbied on behalf of a national education trade association and assisted in securing federal appropriations exceeding $200 million for a school reform program.
Before that, Perry served as special assistant to the vice president for government relations at Legal Services Corporation, a Congressionally-chartered nonprofit organization, which administers federal funds to 140 legal aid programs across the country. Here, Perry worked to increase federal support for the provision of civil legal services for low-income Americans. His professional experience also includes time in a Congressional office and with a county executive.
Perry holds a degree in political communication from The George Washington University and is pursuing a law degree at the University of Maryland.
